When to be where…

If you do not have a ride back down you will not be able to participate in the race.

Remember that your ride down from the top is your own responsibility.

REMINDER: The summit can be cold – make sure you give warm clothing to your car ride down. There will be no bag drop area.

To obtain a car ride down prior to race weekend: Post to the race forum. At the race, there will be a spot under the festival tent for drivers to meet runners and runners to meet drivers. We encourage drivers to take down runners. It helps with parking. Remember, drivers need at least 3 runner’s Auto Passes and an empty car to go up free.

Your vehicle may go up for FREE if you follow these rules EXACTLY:

1. The vehicle must be empty of ALL people except the driver.

2. The driver must have 3 or more passes from runners who he/she will later bring down.

3. The vehicle must get into line and through the tollbooth before 8:30. Go early (road opens at 6:30) to avoid being stuck in line and missing the start. The road closes at 8:30.

4. All vehicles going to the top – even those paying the fee – will need to be bringing down at least two runners after the race. So, cars with one or more passengers going up will need to show two passes AND HAVE ROOM IN THEIR CAR FOR THEM. The Auto Road fee will be charged for all cars with passengers going up. If your car and passengers are overloaded with two runners coming down, the Auto Road crew will not allow you to go up. Be sure to view the Auto Road web site for vehicle and weight restrictions.

5. Before driving into line at the tollbooth, be sure you are ready to go right up. You will need to have the runners’ passes and gear. Once through the tollbooth, you must keep going (no stopping for last minute details).

6. Vehicle/weight restrictions will apply. Jaguar, Saturn and Sterling autos with automatic transmissions must show a “1″ or “L” or “S” on the shifter to be allowed on the Auto Road. Transmissions showing an “S” must demonstrate that this shifter will allow the transmission to be locked into 1st gear. Model year 2009 and earlier Honda and Acura vehicles must meet the same requirements as described above. Model year 2010 Honda and Acura vehicles are all allowed regardless of transmission type. Maximum wheelbase on any vehicle: 161″ (this excludes most club cab pickups & limousines). No trailers, RV’s, campers or oversized vans converted to RV’s. No mopeds. No dual wheeled vehicles. No pickups with permanent additions that extend wider than the cab (campers, rack bodies, very wide mirrors). Car-pooling is a must! There isn’t much parking space at the top, so take as many as your vehicle will safely carry. Suggested passenger (average size adults) limit guidelines: Compacts (4), Mid-size (5), Full-size Cars and 3/4 ton vans (6), One ton vans (7). Please refer to Mt. Washington Auto Road’s web site for more info.
