General Information

Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises: The Mt. Washington Auto Road is excited to partner with Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises (DMSE) to manage the Mount Washington Road Race. The DMSE team brings unparalleled knowledge of race management through its years of involvement in world class events including the Boston Marathon and Beach to Beacon 10k. Bob Teschek and Granite State Race Services will continue to provided the timing services for the race.

Registration & Lottery: The lottery system will open on February 15, 2012. As in the past, the window for registration will remain open until March 15, at 11:59 pm EST, but we will be using an entirely new and enhanced online registration system.

Invited entrants will be notified via email on January 4, 2012 with instructions on how to bypass the lottery. Invitational entrants must confirm their entry into the 2012 race by February 10, 2012. Contact us if you think you merit an invitation and did not receive one, mary@mt-washington.com or josh@dmsesports.com. If you miss the invitational deadline of February 10, you may register for the lottery when it opens on February 15, 2012.

Those eligible for lottery bypass are:  Age group and Team winners from 2011, NEUSATF Mountain Goats and those amazing Streakers that keep coming back each year – kudos to you! Also the top two Clydesdales and the top Filly; and last but certainly not least our incredible Volunteer Groups.

Runners who will be offered a complementary race entry are the top three over-all male and top three over-all female winners from 2011, along with the top age-graded male and female Master.

Overall winners from all past year’s races are also entitled to a complementary entry. Please send inquires to Josh Nemzer or Mary Power.

Elite Athlete Inquiries: Please contact John Stifler at jstifler@econs.umass.edu concerning elite athlete participation in the Mount Washington Road Race. Please send John an email with running resume and record of competitive performances at both mountain and non-mountain based races no later than March 16, 2012.

Facilities Management: The parking scenarios at both the base and summit will be enhanced providing a better experience for all involved. Other changes will include a new layout for the tent, more portapotties, increased signage for traffic flow and a number of other changes. We’re hosting a large race in a small space, and we want to make it as smooth as possible.

Start Time: Most importantly, the start of the race will be at 9:00am.  Don’t be left behind!

Friday Night: All pre-race activities, including pasta dinner, packet pickup and the Hall of Fame induction, on Friday night are held at the Mt. Washington Auto Road.

Kids Klimb: After the big race starts, we’ll be hosting a mini-hillclimb for children at the base. Your kids will be able to get a taste of what running the mountain is all about! Entry is free along with medals for each participant.

Post-Race Meal: Hart’s Turkey Farm will be catering the meal in 2012. It’s Thanksgiving in June!

Lottery draw will take place on March 16, 2012 with acceptance emails to follow.
