Two-time World Mountain Running Champion Melissa Moon, of New Zealand dueled with four time Mt. Washington Road Race victor Anna Pichrtova of the Czech Republic for more than 7 miles before out sprinting her to the finish in Saturday's annual hillclimb. Moon narrowly missed setting a new women's record when she posted a time of 1 hour 10 minutes 11 seconds, just 2 seconds off the record set by Magdalena Thorsell in 1998. Simon Gutierrez of Colorado won overall in a time of 1 hour, 54 seconds, his third Mt. Washington win.
